"You shall be my witnesses . . . . to the uttermost parts of the earth." Acts 1:8
Jerry Wilmoth lived in Dayton, Ohio, as a child but the family moved to the Anderson area when he was about age 14. They settled in a town known as New Columbus or Ovid. He wanted to play softball on the Ovid Community Church team, so he decided to get involved in their Vacation Bible School, church camp and revivals.
He worked at St. John's Hospital in Anderson, and after a previous marriage was dissolved, he married Dianna. They eventually adopted Chelsea and Jasmine and attended the Daleville UMC. When they came to Yorktown Methodist Church, they liked the activities for the children in Miss Barb's junior church, and Dianna loved Chikako's music and Madalyn's bell choir. Dianna‘s funeral was held in the church in December of 2018.
Jerry has an interesting comparison when talking about churches. He said, "Going to church is like going to a restaurant. If you are not full when you leave, you don’t want to go back!"
He is a collector of records and posts on Facebook which famous people have birthdays, etc. His favorite Bible verses are from Ecclesiastes 3:1-15, and so he loves the song "Turn, Turn, Turn" by the Byrds, which begins this way: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven."
