Hands of Hope
Yorktown Methodist Church wants to partner with Hands of Hope to do something that can really impact one foster family in the Yorktown area and the child or children they have taken in to their homes. Fifty percent of foster families fail within the first year because they lack the support they need for taking on additional children. When that happens it means another move for a very fragile child who is not quite sure why they are moving and where they fit in. To a child each move can feel like rejection. Hands of Hope will help us to help a family. We will try and match your talents to what the family needs. It might look like providing a meal every other month, praying for the family, possibly helping with baby sitting on occasion or tutoring. One member of our team will be the communicator and that person will let the others know the needs. With eight people working together the burden will be light, and it will be life giving to the foster child and foster family. We already have 6 volunteers and only need 2 more. It is a one year commitment, but with our team the load will be manageable. Please consider the impact it can make on a child's life. Contact Pastor Kate or Ron Sloan for more information.
