Dear Susanna,
I stopped by for lunch one day at the Yorktown Senior Cafe. It was enjoyable. I got to chat with a few folks I knew, and a few I didn't. Add the bonus of the exercise class on Tuesday, and the Bible study on Thursday, it makes a wonderful outreach program for our church. I think it is great that the YMC is offering this.
Pleased Patty
Dear Pleased,
I am with you. I think it is off to a good start. It has the potential to feed people a nutritious and very reasonably priced meal, along with some great fellowship. We have some church members who have been rocking the hospitality on this, but we would really like to see more involvement from additional church members. Please consider setting a goal of making it to the Yorktown Senior Cafe at least once or twice a month as a guest. If we all pull together, good things will come of it!
Love and Prayers,
Susanna
Dear Susanna,
I am trying to talk my daughter into sending my grandson to church camp this year. Do we have any funds at YMC that will help with that?
Gramps
Dear Gramps,
We do have some ways that we can help cover the cost of church camp for youth. One would be the Schubert Endowment for students that actively attend church at YMC. The Leadership Council realizes that church camp can play a fundamental role in the spiritual development of any child, and will do their part to help with this. So if you have a grandchild that does not attend church here and would like to go to church camp, simply have the parent or child write a letter or email and provide information about the camp, the dates, and the cost, and they will try to be of assistance. Please contact Pastor Matthew for more information.
Love & Prayers,
Susanna
Dear Susanna,
I don't get prayer requests from the church anymore. Are we still doing that?
Power of Prayers
Dear Prayers,
Yes, we do! Prayer requests are sent to michellekmiller@yahoo.com. Then Michelle sends them out through the church Mailchimp account. The requests go to everyone. This is the same account that Joy Sours sends the weekly Thursday email from. If you are not receiving these two important pieces of mail, please contact the pastor or one of the volunteers. We don't want you missing out on the news.
Love & Prayers,
Susanna
Dear Susanna,
I really enjoy the visiting time on Fellowship Sundays. Who do we check in with to volunteer to help with refreshments?
Ida B Willing
Dear Willing,
I am enjoying the fellowship, too! Mary Jo Estep is the coordinator of the Fellowship Sundays, and she says we need additional volunteers from June thru September. She has set out a sign up sheet in the narthex. Or you can contact her.
Love & Prayers,
Susanna
"Dear Susanna" is a feature of the YMC monthly newsletter. Susanna Wesley never preached a sermon, published a book, or founded a church, yet Susanna Wesley is known as the Mother of Methodism. The example of faith and religious reverence she set for her children John and Charles inspired them to become powerful spiritual leaders, and to launch the Methodist movement.
