Kids in the Meadow(KitM) is a Vacation Bible School ministry that the YMC supports through Reach Yorktown Ministries. KitM meets every Monday in June from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Morrow's Meadow in Yorktown. In case of inclement weather, the event is moved to YMC. The evening begins with a light brown bag supper of hot dog, carrots, chips, and a cookie followed by singing. Then the students divide into one of three groups based on grade level and have a Bible story time, crafts, or recreation. The theme for this year's event is Psalms 23, The Lord is My Shepherd. Students attending need to register at Kids in the Meadow Registration.
We typically have a number of members who volunteer to serve in some capacity. All volunteers who will be working directly with the students need to sign up at Volunteers for Kids in the Meadow. The form does ask about a background check, and our church will be providing those for our volunteers.
YMC is in charge of providing the meal on June 5th, so look for the sign up sheet in the narthex or contact Mary Jo Estep. We will need hot dogs, buns, carrots, chips, cookies, and volunteers to help serve that evening.
