While mortals sleep the Angels keep Their watch of wondering love. 

Read: Psalm 91:9-13 

The reading from the Psalms gives us comfort. Part of it reads: 

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; (Psalm 91:10, NIV) 

God has commanded the angels, his attendants to guard those who follow God. They are watching over us to keep us from stumbling. 

This feeling of comfort may be what led the writer of this Christmas Carol to pen the words “Their watch of wondering love”. God has given the angels the task of watching over the faithful. God loves you. 

What does it mean for you that God loves you enough that one of his angels is protecting you? 

What strength does that give you to face the future unafraid?
