Hanging of the Greens was last Sunday evening. Sharon Wills, organizer of the event, wants to thank everyone who turned out to decorate the church for the Advent Season. Lots of volunteers made the task go quickly. Thank you, decorators! Special thanks to Steve Gernand for repairing the broken manger and to Sharon & Jim Wills for organizing the decorations so it was a quick and easy job for the volunteers.
November Fellowship Team - Thank you to Aaron & Linda Brown, Hal & Marilyn Musser, & and Steve & Gayle Gernand for the donuts, cheeseballs, crackers, coffee, and cider. It was delicious!
Christmas Basket support thank yous to Steve Gernand, Rol Waker, John Chaille, & Bob Futrell provided the trucks and Joe Dolan joined in to provide additional muscle in the food donation pick-up at the Yorktown Elementary and Middle Schools at noon on Friday November 10th. They then were instrumental in unloading approximately 4100 items at the church. The sorting crew of Steve & Gayle Gernand, Ben Ayres, John & Barb Chaille, Rol Walker, Judy St. John, Terry Fauquher, Brenda Olson, and Mary Jo Estep then sorted & stacked the food.
Last month a group of ladies from YMC met in Fellowship Hall to make blankets for the Reach backpacks for children at Yorktown School. Cathy Beach, Becky Clemens, Debbie Dolan, Judy Gernand, Brenda Olson, Linda Riegle, Vicki Seymour, Carol Spangler, Judy St. John, Carol Ward and Mary Jo Estep made twelve blankets and had a great time. The blankets will be distributed by Yorktown Staff. Thanks to all who helped.
Trunk or Treat was a lot of fun! Thank you to everyone that donated candy and helped to make it a fun evening.
YMC was in charge of assisting at the Reach Yorktown Ministry food distribution. A special thanks to everyone who helped on the third Saturday in November. It's been great to have a more people in the choir including Wesley Alves, John Chaille, Bob Futrell, Landon Staley, Judy Gernand, Debbie Dolan, Brenda Olson, and Becky Clemens. Special thanks to Wesley Alves for accompanying the worship music on several different occasions and to Landon Staley with his amazing vocal talents.
The Bell Tones are back, and they are such a delight! Thank you to Madalyn Ayers for her commitment to this great group. Christmas Basket Update
The annual Christmas basket movement is well under way. Food items have been collected and sorted. We are especially grateful to Yorktown Elementary, Yorktown Middle School, and the Yorktown Public Library for generously sharing non-perishable items for the baskets. Additional items will be purchased to complete the baskets from the designated offerings that came in last month. On December 9th the Boy Scouts will serve breakfast at 8:00 a.m., and then the packing of the boxes with the non-perishable items will begin. On the 16th, Judy St. John and crew will serve breakfast at 8:30 a.m. followed by topping off the baskets with the perishable items and then delivering them. Thank you to all who helped to bless others in our community with food, monetary, and labor donations. God is at work within us!
