A Word from the Pastor
He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. (Luke 24:25-27, NIV)
HAPPY EASTER! Chances are, you are reading this a few days after we have celebrated Easter. We have encountered the empty tomb! We have praised God for the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ, and the gift of the resurrection. Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we can receive everlasting life in the presence of God.
In the church calendar, we are now in what we call the season of Easter (Eastertide). It is the time between Easter and Pentecost (May 19th this year). It is the time when Jesus spent significant time with the disciples continuing to teach them about the "Reign of Christ," this time, from the perspective of the resurrection. Have you ever wondered what Jesus taught them during this time?
Well, we are going to try and get a small glimpse of what the Bible captures during Jesus’ forty days with the disciples. Over six weeks (beginning April 14th), we will encounter the recorded appearances of Jesus. We will see Jesus opening up the scriptures and teaching his followers all they would need to carry the Good News forward after he returns to God.
I also want to invite you to worship on April 7th. We will have Sara Coggins, the Delaware County Coordinator of Hands of Hope. She will share about the ministry that we have been engaged with and share their vision for the future.
I invite you to join in the journey!
Pastor Matthew
