Grow Your Faith In Community
YMC Has Many Opportunities For You To Strengthen Your Faith.
- Small Group- 8-12 people who meet every other week (some in person and some by zoom) for fellowship, prayer, and study.
- Sunday School- a weekly gathering of disciples growing together through study and friendship.
- Sunday School begins at 10:45am in the TFL room.
- Short-Term Studies- The Pastor teaches 3-4 short-term classes each year.
- Alpha- for those exploring the Christian faith
- Foundations- for beginning disciples and those considering church membership
- Core-Curriculum courses which focus on one of six pillars of our discipleship (knowing Jesus, obedience to Jesus, service, hospitality, worship, and generosity).
Join the Youth Ministry
Our youth ministry meets twice a month on Sunday afternoons for study and fellowship. Intergenerational discipleship is one of our core values, and we encourage the adults in our congregation to partner with parents and guardians to love and encourage students. We attend games, concerts, and other special events. We also welcome student participation in traditionally “adult” ministries, such as classes or service projects. All adults who work with students are screened and go through child protection training.
Use Your Gifts to Serve
At YMC, we value serving within our congregation and beyond it. Here are some ways the people of our church use their gifts to bless others.
- Worship Team
- Singing (solos and in choir)
- Playing Instruments
- Playing bells and chimes
- Liturgists (reading of Scripture)
- Ushers
- Worship Hosts (their job is to make guests feel welcomed)
- AV team
Reaching Team
We have a team dedicated to reaching out to our neighbors and community and welcoming them in Jesus’ love. You can join this team or help with one of their projects. This team is ideal for those gifted in hospitality, evangelism, and compassion.
Serving Team
Our serving team is dedicated to being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. They oversee our ministry partnerships (the organizations we have built relationships with to bless the Yorktown/Muncie area) and organize new service opportunities. The serving team is especially focused on how we serve the least of these, including the impoverished, hungry, and children in foster care. You can join this team or help with one of their projects. This team is ideal for those gifted with compassion and mercy, and those who are passionate about helping others.
Caring Team
The caring team ministers to the people of our congregation in a variety of ways. They visit the elderly and sick, send cards and letters to shut-in members, organize meal trains, and surround their brothers and sisters in Christ, especially in their times of need. You can join this team or assist with one of their projects. This team is a great fit for anyone who loves to care for others during difficult times, and those who have a heart for the elderly.
Teaching Team
The teaching team oversees our ministries of Christian formation, such as Sunday school, small groups, Bible studies, children, and youth ministries. This is a great ministry for those who love learning, Scripture, and building Christian community.
Facilities Team
A group of dedicated people see to the care and keeping of our facility. While the church is the people, not the building, the church is a ministry tool we want to steward well. Those who are skilled with building maintenance can serve meaningfully with this team.
Finance Team
Every organization relies upon men and women who steward the financial resources of that organization. Our finance team oversees the annual budget, investments, financial accountability, and fostering healthy financial practices within the whole congregation. This is a great team for those who are administratively inclined, have a business or financial background, and those who have the spiritual gift of generosity.
