Have you ever read a book that really spoke to you on a spiritual level and wished that you had someone to talk to about it? Well, welcome to Book Talk. Send Gayle ggernand@gmail.com the book that you are interested in discussing along with a brief description or the Amazon blurb. Then others who think the book looks interesting will need to get in contact with the sender and together they can plan some meetings.

My first suggestion, Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools: An Invitation to the Wonder and Mystery of Prayer by Tyler Staton did not garner a lot of interest, but it is a great book. I highly recommend it. I think it will help provide a better perspective on prayer.

This month I am recommending Liturgy of the Ordinary by Tish Harrison Warren. It is Christianity Today Book of the Year. I listened to it as an audio book through the local library.

In the overlooked moments and routines of our day, we can become aware of God's presence in surprising ways. How do we embrace the sacred in the ordinary and the ordinary in the sacred?

Framed around one typical day, this book explores life through the lens of liturgy—small practices and habits that form us. In each chapter, Tish Harrison Warren considers a common daily experience—making the bed, brushing her teeth, losing her keys. Drawing from the diversity of her life as a campus minister, Anglican priest, friend, wife, and mother, Warren opens up a practical theology of the everyday. Each activity is related to a spiritual practice as well as an aspect of our Sunday worship.

Come and discover the holiness of your every day.
