Dear Susanna,
So we have a new church name, Yorktown Methodist Church. It's not the one I voted for, but I think it will work. It is probably what everyone in town would have called us anyway for the next thirty years. Do you have any details about the vote that you can share?
Verna Voter
Dear Voter,
We had a good turnout for the "Name Our Church" vote. There were actually 105 votes that were counted. One was disqualified because the voter did not leave their name. Another was disqualified because it was a duplicate vote; their first vote did count though. Journey Community Church received 4 votes, Yorktown Community received 31 votes, Yorktown Community of Faith received 16 votes, and Yorktown Methodist received 54 votes. The church is now in the process of updating signs, logos, accounts, email, etc. to get the new name out there.
It is good to follow in the footsteps of our founding fathers.
Love & Prayers,
Susanna
Dear Susanna,
I just read the article about the needs of our Foster Family. They do sound like amazing people. Do they have any other needs that we could help with? I can't imagine coping with a family of five preschoolers!
Caring Cara
Dear Caring,
Prayer is a huge thing you could do to help this family. We do have a care team that helps provide a weekly meal, some visits, and other help as needed. If you are interested contact Amy Fowler or Ron Sloan for more information. Please make your donation checks for them out to the YMC with Foster Family on the check.
Love & Prayers,
Susanna
"Dear Susanna" is a feature of the YUMC monthly newsletter. Susanna Wesley never preached a sermon, published a book, or founded a church, yet Susanna Wesley is known as the Mother of Methodism. The example of faith and religious reverence she set for her children John and Charles inspired them to become powerful spiritual leaders, and to launch the Methodist movement.
