Prayer Corner

by Joy Grady von Kleeck

Sometime back I was writing about using the acronym P-R-A-Y as a way to pray. I have taken the ideas from a YouVersion plan. Since it has been a while, I will review the letters already covered. P is for Praise. R is for repent. A is for Ask. So that brings us to the Y. Psalm 37:4 gives us the element for Y: "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."

They explain that the Hebrew word for delight in this verse literally means to become soft or pliable. So "delighting in the Lord is assuming a yielded posture before God. So Y stands for Yield. How do we practice yielding to God when we pray? Most of the time it involves waiting and listening. We could start with some questions. "God, is there anything You want to say to me? Do you have any instructions for me? Is there anything You want me to change?" Then silently wait for Him. Many times we are surprised what the Holy Spirit brings to our attention.
