O come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel! 

Read: Matthew 1:18-25 

At Christmas, we proclaim three distinct ways in which we are seeking Jesus Christ (Emmanuel) to be present with us. 

1. In remembrance of the time when Jesus came as a baby born in a manger. We remember his life and ministry as he walked amongst us. 

2. We proclaim that through the Holy Spirit, Jesus is still abiding with us through our hearts and minds. We connect to God’s will through belief in Jesus Christ. 

3. We hold fast to the promise that one day, Jesus will return to Earth to establish God’s reign forever. One day, we will be residents of God’s eternal home.
