O holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend to us, we pray!

Read: Luke 1:26-38

When the angel, Gabriel, appeared to Mary, it was a surprise. This young woman from Nazareth (and not Bethlehem) was being asked that she was going to be the mother of God’s son. Her simple response, “May your word to me be fulfilled” (Luke 1:38, NIV), set the way for God’s gift of Jesus to come to earth.

God has a way of calling the least likely persons to do great things. God called the youngest of Jesse’s son, David, to be the King of Israel. God called Paul, a persecutor of Christians, to be an apostle and evangelist for those who followed Christ. And the list could go on.

It is not your qualifications that will make you a willing servant in God’s plan. It is your willingness to serve. Sometimes you may be called to do something that you have been trained to do. And other times it may be your passion and God’s will that drives you to action.

How might God be calling you to serve?

Are there any limitations that are keeping you from serving? How might you overcome them?
