YMC Leadership Council Minutes
Meeting No. 1 as YMC, Tuesday, December 6, 2022
Members present: Lance Estep, Ron Fauquher, Gayle Gernand, Pastor Matthew Leffler, Michelle Miller, and Ron Sloan Members absent: Roland Walker
Pastor Matthew led a devotion based upon part of the Christmas story starting with Luke 2:8. Pastor Matthew asked for prayer requests and prayed.
Pastor Matthew updated us on the progress of the nomination team’s work on nominating members to fill the Leadership Council for 2023. The council also discussed additional needs for facilities/trustees committee and the finance committee.
Ron F. gave an update on the disaffiliation process.
The Council approved the updated Bylaws and the new Articles of Incorporation of Yorktown Church Inc., DBA of Yorktown Methodist Church.
The Council approved the employment memorandum between the Yorktown Methodist Church and Pastor Matthew Leffler.
The council discussed the new name roll-out. A revised logo was approved. A new web address (yorktownchurch.org) was approved. Pastor Matthew will work on our email address strategy and signage.
The Boy Scout Charter needs to be updated to Yorktown Church, Inc. We need additional information from Scouts.
Ron S. spoke about the Lifestream Senior Café project. Lifestream has filed a waiver request with the state to have the Senior Café two days a week at our church.
Ron F. gave a finance update. The disaffiliation payment has been completed.
The Council discussed Pastor Matthew having cottage meetings in order to get to know the congregation. Pastor Matthew will decide on a schedule for them.
The Council approved purchasing coffee cups and/or note cards with the new name and logo to distribute to help promote the new name.
Ron F. suggested that we update the congregation about that the leadership council decision to have the church remain independent for the time being.
